3 Upper Body Strength Exercises for Runners
Upper body strength is important for runners. Not only will upper body resistance training keep upper body muscles strong, but it will improve posture, increase mobility and range of motion. This will allow greater expansion of the rib cage, improving lung volume and oxygenation. As we all know, oxygen is important in fueling muscles when running, racing or when performing any aerobic or physical activity. This upper body set consists of the following:
– 10 Close Grip Tricep Push-ups
– 10 Dumbbell Rows
– 10 Lateral Raises
Repeat 3x, and additional repetitions or circuits if you are at an advanced fitness level.
